Kashmir Point Murree — A Complete Visitor’s Guide

Kashmir Point is Murree’s most prestigious residential address. It sits at the highest point of the town, just beside the Governor House, and offers the kind of views that make people understand why Murree became the British hill station of choice in colonial Pakistan. Pine trees in every direction, cool air even in July, and a quietness that the bazaar areas simply do not have.

This guide covers everything you need to know about Kashmir Point — where it is, what to do, where to stay, and how to get there.

Where is Kashmir Point?

Kashmir Point is located at the upper end of Murree, above Mall Road, at an elevation of approximately 2,134 metres above sea level. It takes its name from the view it offers — on a clear day, you can see across the valley towards the Kashmir ranges.

It is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the main Mall Road bazaar, and approximately 2 hours drive from Islamabad (about 65 km via the Murree Expressway). From Rawalpindi, the journey takes about 90 minutes depending on traffic.

What is Kashmir Point Known For?

Kashmir Point is best known as the most exclusive residential neighbourhood in Murree. It is home to the Governor House, a number of foreign consulate residences, and some of the town’s finest private villas and holiday cottages. The roads are quieter, the air is cleaner, and the views are unmatched.

There is a public viewing point at Kashmir Point itself — a small plateau with telescopes and a few food stalls — but the real appeal is staying in the area rather than just visiting it.

Best Time to Visit Kashmir Point

  • Summer (May–September): Peak season. Temperatures between 15°C and 25°C. Ideal for families escaping the plains heat. Book at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance.
  • Monsoon (July–August): Lush greenery, waterfalls, and mist. Some road closures possible during heavy rain. Magical if the weather holds.
  • Autumn (October–November): Quieter, beautiful colours, crisp air. Underrated time to visit.
  • Winter (December–February): Snow season. Kashmir Point gets genuine snowfall. Properties with fireplaces become very popular. Book early.
